I have 18 websites all about the same topic but in order to increase my page rank I want to redirect them all?

to my main site www.gochinasites.com which was always my main site.
1. If I do this, will it work? In terms of accumulating my hits onto the one site?
2. Will Google / Yahoo be ok with that?
ps. they are travel sites and each site besides the main one is about a different city so it doesn’t seem like a breach ethics to me, but does anyone know the policy on this?

It’s a good idea to at least redirect them to webpages on the same domain.
1. Yes, it certainly works if you use a 302 redirect.
2. Yahoo and Google are fine with it!

There is a better way to increase your web page rank instead of redirecting them all to one site.
The best way to do this and it be search engine friendly is to add links from your 18 sites back to gochinasites.com
When your 18 sites get crawled by the search engines it will increase the score of that site. 18 sites is not a lot of back links, but since they are all related there should be no punishment on the ranking.
If all 18 sites are on the same server, it won’t help hardly at all since they do check the IP address to see if the sites are far from each other, which is an indicator of non-intentional back linking.
