I agree with @Will

there is no set answer. a slow and steady increase over time is the way to look really good to Google. this shows that your site has interesting content and that other people like it (by linking to your content)

if you are using a blog, its important to keep in mind that the ideal situation is for each of your posts to continue to get backlinks over time, not just the new posts.

another thing to keep in mind is that the development of backlinks should appear to increase naturally, through a variety of sources. getting 100 per week isn’t really needed. you can get yourself on page 1 with very little work. following up that work with a slow and steady increase of backlinks will keep you on the first page for most of the time.

have a look at

http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com

this is a free online course about developing an online business. it is completely free and they don’t try to sell you anything. it is starting tomorrow. the course is geared toward complete beginners but has useful information for people of all skill levels.

You may also want to look at

this is another course I used to help build traffic to my own site. the best part of this course is the viral twist at the end. it only takes about 15 minutes to read through. Also interesting, this course teaches techniques that do not require any ranking on any search engines

hope this helps

I know there are hundreds of factors on SEO but I’m specifically looking at what is the most important factor assuming I have already built a webpage that is optimized for search indexing. I heard that backlinks particularly on very high relevance sites will boost my webpage to go up the search results but wonder if this is true.

The two most important factors are the title element (sometimes mistakenly called a tag) and inbound links. The imortance of inbound links is in turn based on:

*The anchor text

*The linking page (the page on which the link is situated)

*The linking site (the site which contains the page the link is on)

*The linked page (the page on your site that is linked to)

I was wondering how I can create some valid backlinks and then I found out that some dating sites have millions of them, so the question is how they do that in a short time?

1. Buying backlinks (packages sometime come in thousands)
2. Having workers posting up backlinks as their jobs
3. Great content so actual people link to it (Most important)

It’s money basically; you need to invest some to get successful.

I have a blog and not really sure if I can have too many backlinks to my online store. Im new at blog writing and really would like to find ways to promote my store and haven’t figured out how with my blog? Can anyone help me, thanks?

You can have an unlimited number of backlinks but, yes, they should be coming from sites with different domain names and IP addresses. If you can write 450-word articles, there is a system that can help you. There are participating blogs that need original content, and they will gladly give you one-way links in exchange for your articles.

An article is usually spun, and you get about 60 links with your keywords as anchor texts.

Is link operator which is used to find backlinks for a domain in google still acitve??If not which operator can i use to find backlinks for a domain??

It still works but it’s very limited as to what it throws back at you.

Yahoo’s your best bet these days for checking backlinks, using the same link: command.

No. It may actually be beneficial if your posts get indexed. So make good posts with relevant keywords. However, avoid spamming the discussions with your links. Keep them in your profile.

Any link to your site, whether you did it or somebody else, as long as you don’t link back has no effect on your site. Search engines simply don’t count inferior and irrelevant links. But, if you link back, and the other site is a bad site, that’s another story.

Now That Myspace Does Redirects Do I Still Get Credit For The Backlinks?

what on earth does this question mean?

Can using DoFollow blogs for backlinks get you banned from search engines?

If Dofollow links are used then the pr of the links are increased. But if there are more than 100 links on a page then google doesnt consider those links. That is when Nofollow links come into the picture.

Nofollow links are not completely useless. I had a site which i wanted to just use for testing purpose. I basically gave it only nofollow linkbacks. After a period of 30 days it started to reflect on the google search engine and by 45 days or so, i got one of my keywords to the top of the google search.
So, what i’m trying to say here is that it not completely useless like most of them have mentioned here. Its just that it helps in indexing by not as good as dofollow links.
