I need to get my site up on Google. How do I do this? I read somewhere if you backlink to high PR sites, google will think they are connected to you and move your site up on the search engines?

Get back links by posting comments on blog with your website in the comment as a link. Post on forums or leave a link in your forum signature. There are various ways but they all take a little time and effort. Just dont spam these forums and blogs. Write things worth while and that relate to the topic.

Write content that is compelling and exclusive. Like a top 10 list of something interesting. Its not easy, you have to provide content that stands out from the rest, and convinces people of the effort you put behind it. Just imagine yourself as a webmaster, how would you link to a site ? If only you trust the content right ? Like Wikipedia or Yahoo answers ? So write content that can match that sort of authority.

2) Social Networking. Just type in ‘list social networking sites’ into Google or Yahoo.

There are some great answers here but you can also do some other things such as creating your base web of content. 30 pieces just gets your foot in the door. You can use your blog, Hubpages, Squidoo while using long tailed keyword phrases. Start linking to your lead capture pages. Then market it in your emails, social sites and bookmarking sites.
If you favor a Squidoo lens your picture will always be displayed and you will get more of free traffic that way helping to rank higher on the search engines. If people are looking for someone to join who knows network marketing and they see you in a few places they’ll click on it and it’s free for you to do. Having a good base web content will give you real security and having an ever growing list is extremely valuable. There are so many more free ways to move up in the search engines and make money at the same time.
