My website is already listed on Google, Yahoo, and Altavista. How do I add them to other search engines where it is not listed? (AOL, MSN, and Ask.com) Also, how do I improve my ranking on the search engines my website is already listed?

You can use a manually submit your site to any search engine. However, it is much more recommended that you allow the search engines to find it naturally. This is possible through 3rd party backlinks. At our agency, we don’t submit client’s sites to search engines. Instead, we put together a high quality linking campaign, and allow the search engines to follow those links and organically crawl the sites.

As to what you can do to improve your search rankings, SEO is the answer. Now Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not a "cookie cutter practice." What needs to be done to search optimize a website/blog is very unique for each individual site.

However, I can give some basic recommendations that can help increase your search rankings:

1. Make Your Site User-Friendly (Web Usability)

This is one of the most important factors that should be considered when architecting a website. There’s a book called “Don’t Make Me Think,” that will give tell almost everything you need to know about web usability. As an SEO consultant, I can tell you that if the website isn’t user-friendly, than it’s very unlikely that it’ll be search engine friendly.

2. Use Good Old-Fashion PR As Part of Your SEO Strategy

Write press releases and publish them online; just make sure that you optimize them using the right search keywords.

3. Update Your Content Frequently

Often times, people/companies start websites or blogs and they never update the content. In your case, make sure that you are regularly uploading new/fresh posts. From a user perspective, if I don’t see anything fresh on your blog regularly, why should I keep coming back? Search engines act the same way when they come to crawl your page.

Keep these three basic recommendations in mind when thinking about SEO and you’ll be on the right track.

the fast way? then the best way?

and what are the pros and cons of a website with a high or low PR level.

Do On-page Optimization properly.

1. Place your important keywords in title, description and keywords tag.
2. Place them in H1, h2 tags etc.
3. Validate your html according to w3c standards.
4. Create a sitemap in which all your pages links are placed.
5. Put your keywords in alt tags in images.

Do Off-Page optimization properly, It has more importance than on-page optimization specially for google. You can increase links to your site by using the following steps.

1. Submit your site to general directories and niche specific directories.
2. Join your niche specific forums they allow signatures in your posts.
3. Post comments in blogs
4. Create your own blog

7. Do link exchange with only relevant sites, by relevant I mean by placing link on there site you will get quality visitors as well as backlinks.
8 Write articles and submit them in article directories.
9. People are also using youtube and other video sites to market there product so if it is possible create one video for your site as well.
10. Create your site in a way or provide such tips or tools on your site from which people get benefit, they will give you link with out you even asking them.
11. If you can afford paid marketing try google adwords and yahoo search marketing to make your product popular.

Hi

I have been informed that a sitemap will improve my Google ranking ? I was under the impression that a sitemap is a Search Engine friendly tool to have all your page spidered, but I do see how it can improve ranking ?

regards

Ashley

Hi Ashley,

The sitemap submission is only one piece of the puzzle in the overall process of marketing your website. On its own it will not help to improve your rankings with Google.

However, if you are engaging in link building strategies on the web to increase the critical mass about your website in the Internet community, one of your items on your "To Do" list would be to submit your website xml sitemap to the search engines.

All three of them (Google, Yahoo, MSN) have a process to submit your sitemap, which ultimately insures that they index all of your pages correctly. It also helps to speed the process up of indexing along with – at least with Google – provide you critical information about their perspective of your website. This will obviously help you in the optimization process too. Google has a Webmaster Central area that discusses this further.

Also take a look at the Sitemaps.org website which all three major search engines agreed upon in 2005. General info.

Lastly, if you are interested in using a Sitemap generator to help you automated the creation and in multiple formats (xml, ror, html, text) take a look at this:

Hope this helps.

The Short Answer

By attracting, buying, trading or otherwise acquiring links to your site. The more sites you get to link to yours, the higher your PR will be, eventually.

If you get sites with a high PR to link to yours, that will benefit your PR more than a site with a low PR linking to yours.

The Long(er) Answer

You should forget about PR. Contrary to what the above answerer said, Google does not (and hasn’t for a long time) ranked sites purely on the basis of links.

Also, the PR that you can see on the Google Toolbar is not an accurate reflection of the real PR used by Google and is widely recognised as basically meaningless by SEO (search engine optimisation) professionals such as myself.

Don’t get me wrong, links are still important, but focussing on PR instead of other important factors will get you nowhere fast.

More importantly, you’ve got far bigger problems with your site to worry about right now, such as making it fully accessible to search engine spiders and removing redundant code, and the fact that you have free hosting on your providers domain name.

1. you have to use seo tricks
2. Get as much as possible baclinks
3. Link exchange.

I would love to know how I can get inexpensive quality backlinks to my website. If anybody could help me that would greatly be appreciated.
