What are some tricks to getting your website to appear on page 1 on search engines?

Relevant keywords, register for google webmaster tools, upload your sitemap.xml, optimize your content, update frequently, write semantically correct xhtml that validates, properly format meta tags, alt tags, and any other tag with keywords.

Find a popular subject and update on things about it.
I’m an avid Twilight fan, and I would update my blog every time word of the movie or "Breaking Dawn" was released.
People flooded to my page; I was stunned.

Do something like…I dunno: bands you love, sports teams, books, movies, ect.

Whatever interests you.

I have traded links with maybe 30-40 PR 3 , PR 4 sites but my site PR will not get above 0. I have been online for 3 1/2 months. If you " Google" my site it returns maybe 650 references to it (on Google). What else can I do ?
site is www.fivestargeneralstore.com

Thanks

If the other sites are just link sites, it won’t do you any good. It won’t help if they are completely unrelated to your site.

It is wierd to be at pr0. Your site must be making google very angry.

Have you tried validating your site code? Do that at

http://validator.w3.org/

and clean up any errors.

Do words in your metas actually appear in the body of your site?

Is it an all flash site? (bad).

Do you have keyword-stuffed text set to the same color as the background? (bad).

url, please..

Later that day…
I did some looking around at your site and it looks fine (viewed the source too).
I also put your site address on this page

http://www.website101.com/Search_Engine_Positioning/search-engine-simulator.php

and checked all the boxes to see what would happen. It looks better than a lot of other sites.
The sites which link to yours are mainly link farms, but that should not kill you. I used this handy site to check it:

http://wholinkstome.com/?url=www.fivestargeneralstore.com

The validator found 35 errors, some serious, but nothing I would call fatal. But who knows what it might do to a search engine?

I can’t see any other problems, or for that matter why google is giving you such a low rating. Try getting the error count down and see if that helps.

If the backlink is relevent to the individual page then it is a good idea. Plus, it makes it easier for users who visit individual pages to find your back links.

I’ve been trying to learn SEO for about a month now and all I really get is a bunch of information that I can’t actually apply. I have an ecommerce store that I would like to market and get some good search engine rankings.

Is there any good SEO blueprints out there, that will teach how to rank step by step?

I was in your shoes a few years ago and I feel your pain. You can learn all the SEO in the world but if you don’t have a solid step by step game plan, chances are you won’t get any results.

When it comes down to it, SEO is all about

1. Finding the right keywords to rank for

2. Optimizing your website to rank in Google for those keywords

3. Then building backlinks with those keywords

Of course there is a system to each of those steps but it would take all day for me to explain. You can visit my SEO blog if you get more info. It’s in the resources section right below.

I want to check page rank of my website. Which website I can check the page rank. Also how I can improve page rank of my website?

You can check page rank of your website at http://www.prchecker.info/

Also to improve page rank you need to create lot of quality back links from high pr sites.

Easiest way to get back link is to help people by creating nice articles, videos or reviews. When your article is useful people keep on integrating it on there website which is than spread like a viral networking to all different websites creating back links to your website automatically.

Hope these helps :)

Hi, I want to get do-follow backlinks for my first website, its a website helping people learn about how to care properly for there reptiles.. http://www.rep-care.com
But without a ranking in google ive got no chance and this website is pointless.. so please help me out to help other’s out!

Thanks!

Hi,

I think I would start by googling something like ‘reptile care:forums’ and then joining them and posting links on the site during natural conversation.

The other thing that is known to help SEO is by writing articles for ezinearticles (you can even get someone to write the articles for you) – I’m guessing you have plenty of information to share?

After that SEO your website content as much as possible.

I would also investigate Social Networking (Twitter, Facebook, Squidoo, YouTube (Google loves YouTube – I wonder why?), Stumbleupon, Digg, Delicious….. and other Traffic Generation methods, then slowly you will see results.

One word of warning it can take months to see your site move up the ranks, so I would advise trying to drive traffic through other methods first.

Blogs can also be good, if you post comments even with nofollow then someone will probably follow up on your link just out of interest, if it’s good content!

But if you’re really set on SEO, then articles, articles and more articles would be my advice.

I hope this helps?

I know a dating site that has created more than 3 million backlinks in 5 years.

My question is HOW HAS HE DONE THAT?

It is not possible to write millions of articles and post them in millions of websites, then how has it been possible to create that many backlinks?

Well, It is not necessary that a site create its back links by itself. If you have quality content and something different/unique on your site people by themselves will give you the back links. This term is called link baiting :) BTW you talking about which site ?

Yes this is possible only if you have very strong content of your site….

Is Software Submission To Get Backlinks Outdated?

I don’t think so although I do not recommend spamming.
a quick Google search yielded these results for blog finder software
